MBURNS | INTERVIEW

Recently you released the single The Rapture. Can you tell us more about it?

That was pretty much the easiest song we've ever written. We had some riffs and parts lying around that we just kind of glued together and the song was done. We were pretty satisfied with the new sound and it immediately inspired us to write more. The way that song turned out heavily influenced the rest of the new material. We experimented with a bunch of new elements and sounds. There is a significant amount of electronics and samples as well as a heavier low tuning. We wanted it to be as heavy as possible but epic at the same time. The theme of the song is pretty dark but we had a really good time recording it.

You are currently working on new materials. Are there any details you can share with us?

Yes, we are recording and writing new material, so far we've recorded 4 songs that are pretty much done and we are still trying to figure out which one is going to be the next single. We want to do it right, the reactions for The Rapture were super positive so we want to make this next one even better, so we'll see how it goes. There are a bunch of demo songs written as well, so we want to enter the studio again by the end of 2021. Once we record enough material it will make our new album, no concepts or specific themes this time, we just want to write the best possible songs we can. We are recording everything by ourselves in our rehearsal space/home studio, our drummer Igor is handling all the production work and Josip Pilipić (Silversound studios/Pale Origins) is in charge of mixing and mastering.

What should we expect from you until the end of this year and in 2022?

The new single should be out by the end of the year followed by another soon after that. We'll start shooting the video for the next one pretty soon and for 2022 the plan is to release more singles and hopefully our third album. We don't have anything set in stone yet but we are hard at work.

What did the troubled 2020 mean for you? More work or less work? Do you have some experiences from that strange and difficult year you can tell us about?

I would say more work as far as the new material goes. It made us more relaxed and able to record new stuff every time we got together cause we weren't so focused on rehearsals and live shows because there weren't any, so we got to spend all that time in the studio. But things are hopefully getting back to normal, we are playing a show in Močvara/Zagreb (17.9.) with our pals from Pale Origins. We are ready and excited so we hope to see you there. Cheers!
